Leicestershire Cricket has a new home for 2026, with the launch of a dedicated independent site covering the club.
The Fox, led by sports journalist Andy Moore, is set to offer fresh eyes on the adventures of the county, with regular news, analysis, features and opinion ensuring a depth and breadth of coverage.
Moore has been involved in the industry for well over a decade and since 2017 has dedicated his career to cricket, in a role that has seen him cover the game around the world.
He has worked with leading data providers Opta before moving to CricViz in 2022 as an in-ground and TV analyst for the East Midlands.
He said: “Cricket is just in the blood for me. I am privileged to have covered the sport for nearly a decade, and to be able to bring The Fox to Leicestershire fans is something I am so excited to do.
“There will be a bit of something for everyone on The Fox, whether you are one of the new breed of Foxes fans that want extensive coverage of the club in and out of season, or whether you want to reminisce about days gone past and explore the history of this famous club.
“Coverage of cricket in England is not where it needs to be and being able to work with Sam and the CounterPress team to counteract that is exciting. To see so many other counties being covered shows that this will be a gamechanger for cricket in England.”
The Fox is now open for early interest.
All those who sign up to the mailing list ahead of the site’s big launch on March 1 will be entitled to a significant discount on membership.
The Fox is the 12th county to get a new independent outlet for 2026, as part of CounterPress’s stated mission to revitalise written digital coverage of the national summer sport domestically.
It follows in the footsteps of The Rey (Surrey), Lanky Lanky (Lancashire), From The Sea End (Sussex), Cider Press (Somerset), The Bear (Warwickshire), Up The Middle (Middlesex), King Pears (Worcestershire), The Spitfire (Kent), The Peakite (Derbyshire) and The Chester (Durham).
The Hawk, covering Hampshire, launched last summer and continues to offer a service to supporters throughout the winter.
CounterPress co-founder Sam Morshead said: “Andy brings passion and fanaticism to a project that promises plenty to the people of Leicestershire.
“At a time when dedicated independent coverage of county cricket is seeping away, The Fox will provide a throwback to the good old days: intelligent, insightful, local reporting on a subject that matters to the community.”
Be a part of change.
