Take a peek behind the curtain of Derbyshire Cricket in 2026 with The Peakite – the all-new outlet for coverage of the club.
At a time when county cricket reporting is becoming increasingly rarified, The Peakite aims to offer fresh insight into events at the County Ground.
Led by Paul Fisher, freelance sports commentator and reporter for the BBC, the site will provide insight, analysis and comment on matters on and off the pitch.
Expect extensive and broad content following the fortunes of Derbyshire, from opinion to exclusive interviews focusing on the past, present and future.
Fisher said: “Derbyshire has a small but very loyal band of supporters and The Peakite will be looking to provide thoughtful, entertaining and occasionally humorous content written by people who care about the club”.
Derbyshire fans will be able to register their interest in becoming a Peakite member from mid-January.
Everyone who signs up to the mailing list before the site’s grand opening on March 1 will benefit from a substantial discount on membership.
The Peakite is the 11th county outlet to be confirmed on CounterPress for 2026, as part of a concerted attempt to revitalise domestic cricket journalism.
Others already announced include The Rey (Surrey), Lanky Lanky (Lancashire), From The Sea End (Sussex), Cider Press (Somerset), The Bear (Warwickshire), Up The Middle (Middlesex), King Pears (Worcestershire), The Spitfire (Kent), and The Chester (Durham).
The Hawk, covering Hampshire, launched last summer and continues to offer a service to supporters throughout the winter.
CounterPress co-founder Sam Morshead said: “Derbyshire may be one of the smaller county cricket clubs, but that does not make its membership any less engaged with their local side – and The Peakite has been designed with those very members in mind.
“Paul will do an excellent job in providing a new perspective, and important independent reporting at a time when such a commodity is too uncommon around the county circuit.”
Be a part of change.
