New era for Burnley coverage as TurfReports launches on CounterPress

TurfReports is fronted by Joe Redmond and Chris Wilson, who already run the highly respected Burnley podcast and fan channel, TurfCast.

A new era of Burnley coverage has arrived on CounterPress, with TurfReports stepping up to deliver much-needed high-quality coverage of the Clarets.

TurfReports is fronted by Joe Redmond and Chris Wilson, who already run the highly respected Burnley podcast and fan channel, TurfCast.

Founded in 2018, TurfCast is now well established in the Burnley community and boasts more than 120,000 followers across all social media, including more than 6,600 subscribers on its YouTube channel.

Joe is the founder of TurfCast and a lifelong Burnley supporter with a background spanning journalism, digital content and broadcast. Through TurfCast, he has built an engaged community of Clarets fans across podcasts, YouTube and social media.

His experience includes serving as Head of Social at Radio Yorkshire, alongside work with the Burnley Express, Sunday Express, Daily Star Sunday and Bradford City. He brings experience in growing media brands, producing football content and connecting with supporters.

With TurfReports, Joe aims to build on that foundation to create a dedicated source of engaging, insightful Burnley coverage. Drawing on his knowledge of the club and established contacts, he will bring supporters interviews, analysis and stories that offer a deeper look at the Clarets.

"We believe there’s a real gap in the market for more dedicated Burnley coverage, and we’re eager to build something supporters will enjoy and want to be part of."

Chris began his career working in the statistical side of football, collating live betting data for Genius Sports before transitioning back into the world of journalism - what his degree was initially in.

He is now the Deputy Head of Football Previews for FlashScore whilst also working on the Match Reports team for the same company. Chris has been in press boxes up and down the country as part of his role, including four full seasons covering Burnley’s home games.

At TurfReports, Chris hopes to bring an in-depth look at the statistical and tactical side of the game, whilst also leaning on his expertise in compiling both previews and reports to create content users won’t get elsewhere.

TurfReports members can look forward to detailed reporting on the club across the board - from both the men’s and women’s first teams down to the academy. Supporters can look forward to digesting a variety of written, video, and podcast content - with some exclusive stories along the way.

Joe said: “I’m excited about launching TurfReports. Chris and I have been working hard behind the scenes over the last couple of months, so it’s great to finally share what we’ve been building.

“TurfReports will give us the opportunity to go into greater depth through interviews, analysis and features that give Clarets fans more insight into the club.

“We believe there’s a real gap in the market for more dedicated Burnley coverage, and we’re eager to build something supporters will enjoy and want to be part of.”

"Burnley doesn’t get the coverage it deserves, but we’re here to end that and plug that gap in the market."

Chris Wilson, TurfReports

Chris added: “This is an exciting opportunity for us, something we’ve long spoken about.

“It’s great to see our hard work finally come to fruition and we plan to bring the type of content to Burnley fans that they haven’t seen before, in part due to a distinct lack of outlets showing enthusiasm to put Burnley on the map. We’re here to change that.

“Perhaps owing to the size of the club, Burnley doesn’t get the coverage it deserves, but we’re here to end that and plug that gap in the market, producing high-level content across a variety of different areas."

The early interest page for TurfReports is now open ahead of a full launch later this month. Burnley supporters keen on exploring the new platform can get their first month for free by adding their details to the mailing list now.

The site is the latest established brand to move on to CounterPress, joining the likes of The Brighton Base (Brighton & Hove Albion), Leyton Orientear (Leyton Orient), Forever Blues (Birmingham City) and For Fox Sake (Leicester City) in migrating to the platform.

There are now more than 20 independent football sites on CounterPress, covering everything from the Premier League, EFL and National League, to European clubs and leagues.

"Joe and Chris bring passion, knowledge, insight and authority to their coverage of a club they care about and know inside out."

Prominent titles include The Moonraker (Swindon Town), Full Throstle (West Bromwich Albion), From Bromley With Love (Bromley FC), Saturday White Fever (Fulham), The Phoenix (Coventry City), The Wanderers Post (Wolves) and The 1878 (Manchester United).

Co-founder Sam Morshead said: “Joe and Chris bring passion, knowledge, insight and authority to their coverage of a club they care about and know inside out - it is exactly the blend of skills and experience CounterPress has been built to support.

“I’m excited to see how CounterPress can help TurfReports build on the presence TurfCast has built in the Burnley community, and believe that the brand has immense potential.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun going on the adventure with Joe and Chris over the months and years ahead.”

Be a part of change.
