In-depth, independent coverage of Sussex Cricket is coming in 2026, as a brand new outlet dedicated to the county launches on CounterPress.
From The Sea End will provide broad and deep reporting on the historic club, offering insights and intelligent discussion on a subject that is so dear to so many.
“Sussex supporters deserve knowledgeable, discerning and insightful coverage of their club and From The Sea End will aim to offer it.”Bruce Talbot, From The Sea End
The site will be edited by experienced journalist Bruce Talbot, who has covered Sussex and the wider county game for nearly 40 years, and Paul Weaver, who has been cricket correspondent of several national newspapers during his career and who saw his first Sussex match in the late 1960s.
Supporters can register their interest from December 1, before the site opens for business on February 1, 2026.
CounterPress co-founder Sam Morshead said: “Bruce and Paul are about as knowledgeable as they come for all things Sussex, and From The Sea End promises to revitalise coverage of the county.
The county cricket landscape has seen independent coverage become increasingly sparse over the past decade, as national publishers have had limited resource to commit to the country's national summer sport and regional media's sports reporting has largely been cut to the bone.
“Bruce and Paul are about as knowledgeable as they come for all things Sussex.”Sam Morshead, CounterPress
In 2026, CounterPress will seek to rectify the situation - and From The Sea End will play a huge part.”
From The Sea End is the third county cricket outlet to launch on CounterPress.
The Hawk will continue to provide detailed coverage of Hampshire throughout the winter, while The Chester - covering Durham - will reopen for the new season from March 1.
CounterPress provides journalists with the infrastructure, tools and human resource required to launch, promote and monetise their own media brands.
Several other outlets are due to be introduced over the coming weeks, with most launching in February and March next year, in time for the new county campaign.
Be a part of change.
