If it's owt to do wi' Yorkshire, it'll be in t'White Rose Files
The 2026 county summer will bring a fresh era of independent coverage of Yorkshire as a new media outlet dedicated to the historic club launches on CounterPress.
White Rose Files will provide insight, analysis and opinion on events at Headingley, giving supporters a breadth and depth of reporting.
Key contributors including commentator Jonathan Doidge – a well-known figure in Yorkshire circles - will bring extensive knowledge of the club to WRF’s coverage, which promises to offer plenty for fans and members at Headingley.
Doidge said: “Supporters will know my passion for Yorkshire cricket and Yorkshire County Cricket Club. It's in the blood! It will be great to bring that enthusiasm and knowledge into play in a slightly different way and I'm delighted to be on the team.
“We'll draw on the club's rich history with features, interviews, videos, events and maybe even a podcast.
“Subscribers will be in for a treat, with some big cricketing names contributing, as we set fresh eyes on what is a Yorkshire institution. As we might say in t'broad acres... If it's owt to do wi' Yorkshire cricket it'll be in t'White Rose Files!”
Anyone interested in becoming a White Rose Files member can join the mailing list from early February.
Everyone who signs up ahead of the site's launch on March 30 will be entitled to a significant discount on membership.
Yorkshire is the 14th county to get a new independent outlet for 2026, as part of CounterPress’s stated mission to revitalise written digital coverage of the national summer sport domestically.
It follows in the footsteps of The Rey (Surrey), Lanky Lanky (Lancashire), From The Sea End (Sussex), The Trent (Nottinghamshire), Cider Press (Somerset), The Bear (Warwickshire), Up The Middle (Middlesex), King Pears (Worcestershire), The Spitfire (Kent), The Peakite (Derbyshire), The Fox (Leicestershire) and The Chester (Durham).
The Hawk, covering Hampshire, launched last summer and continues to offer a service to supporters throughout the winter.
CounterPress co-founder Sam Morshead said: “Yorkshire is among the most prestigious clubs on the circuit, and a new outlet offering depth and breadth of coverage will serve its engaged and enthusiastic fanbase down to a tee.
“Jonathan is a well-known voice in the region, and he will add substantial authority to White Rose Files’ output.
“The site’s launch is part of a nationwide initiative to revitalise county cricket journalism, powered by CounterPress, and we hope supporters everywhere will lend their backing to a necessary and worthwhile project.”
Be a part of change.
