Gills 365 lands on CounterPress promising "intelligent, insightful coverage" of Gillingham
Simon Head first launched Gills 365 as a fan-driven website back in the early 2000s during the boom of internet fan forums. But now, more than two decades on, he's bringing Gills 365 back as a professionally-run independent media outlet focused on Gillingham FC.
There is a new home for dedicated coverage of Gillingham FC this season, with the launch of the latest independent football site on CounterPress.
Gills 365 promises to become the go-to place for intelligent, insightful coverage of the League Two club. The site, which will fully launch in August, is fronted by sports journalist and lifelong fan Simon Head.
Simon is a seasoned sports journalist and editor with more than 25 years experience working across a plethora of national and international outlets and major sports organisations, including BBC Sport, Daily Mirror, The Sun, USA Today, BT Sport, TNT Sports, The Football Association and UFC.
During his career, Simon has covered Olympic Games, World Cups, European Championships, FA Cup Finals, Formula 1 Grands Prix, MotoGP, UFC and boxing. But, while he's covered a range of sports and events through his career, his number-one sporting passion has always remained the same – his hometown club, Gillingham FC.
He first launched Gills 365 as a fan-driven website back in the early 2000s during the boom of internet fan forums. But now, more than two decades on, he's bringing Gills 365 back as a professionally-run independent media outlet focused on Gillingham FC.
Gills 365 members can look forward to the match-to-match coverage they'd expect of a dedicated club-focused outlet, but that's only the start. Features, interviews, considered opinion and podcasts will also form part of the site's output.
"My coverage will be independent, professional, honest, and written with an innate knowledge of what it means to be a Gillingham supporter."
Simon Head, Gills 365
In short, Gills 365 will offer a new way to follow Gillingham FC, with top-to-tail coverage of the club, delivered with the professionalism of a veteran sportswriter, and the authenticity and passion that you can only get from a lifelong Gillingham FC supporter.
Simon said: "Gillingham fans certainly don't support this club for the glory! Instead, they do it because it's something that truly matters to them. As someone who has been a regular at Priestfield since the mid-1990s, I know the highs and lows of supporting this club all too well.
"But, after some pretty rough years for Gills fans, things are finally starting to look up. New ownership has brought a smile back to the club and its fanbase, and the relationship between the club and the fans is being rebuilt. Now it's time for that improvement to continue on the pitch.
"Through Gills 365, I plan to document our club's journey as we continue this new era at Priestfield. I hope to work with the club to help bring the fans the best product I can, but my coverage will be independent, professional, honest, and written with an innate knowledge of what it means to be a Gillingham supporter."
Gills 365's early interest waiting list is now open, ahead of a full launch next month. Gillingham fans keen to explore the platform can secure an exclusive discount on membership by adding their details to the mailing list today.
